DBG Spotlight (9-13-17)

Josh Buice

On a regular basis, I am reminded of the need for biblical courage in preaching the Word. Conrad Mbewe proclaimed a wonderful sermon in the 2017 G3 and it has been a great encouragement to me. I trust it will be to you as well—even if you’re not a preacher.  There is great courage needed to remain a faithful and healthy Christian in our present culture.

UPDATE: This will be the last DBG Spotlight until October 3rd since I will be traveling and preaching through Europe over the next two weeks.  Two main articles will be posted on the regular Tuesday and Thursday schedule.

Protestant and Catholic: What’s the Difference? — Kevin DeYoung points to the key differences that stand between Protestants and Catholics.  Keep in mind, while there may be born again Christians in Catholic churches, the real differences that separate Catholics and Christians are based on the official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.  Protestants still protest the false doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church to this very day.

The Greatest Burden of Leadership — “If it is difficult to be a leader, it is far more difficult to be a good leader. If there are challenges that come to those who lead, there are far greater challenges that come to those who wish to lead well.”

Worshiping a Golden Calf on Sunday Morning Is Deceptively Easy — This is a helpful reminder for all of us who can easily fall prey to this religious trap.

4 Reasons Why Faith vs. Science Is a Myth — Faith and science are not at odds with one another, as many continue to suggest.

Why I Signed the Nashville Statement: It Speaks the Truth in Love about the Biblical View of Human Sexuality — Randy Alcorn weighs-in on the “Nashville Statement.”

A Brief Introduction to the Life and Ministry of William Tyndale — “He eventually was caught and martyred for his commitment to see the Word of God in English. He’s sometimes called God’s outlaw. That’s indeed what William Tyndale was.”

Keeping the Faith: Spurgeon and the Downgrade Controversy — This is a helpful article and a good reminder for the preacher of truth.
